We are looking for a senior scientist, specialist on innovative agronomic practices on herbaceous crops, with a specific focus on improving soil fertility, reducing emissions, and enhancing the resilience of cropping systems to climate change in Mediterranean environments, to collaborate with our scientists at Impact on Agriculture, Forests and Ecosystem Services (IAFES) division, based in Sassari. High track record on international research and publication on this topic is required.

ROLE
The Senior Scientist in this role will focus on advancing innovative agronomic practices for herbaceous crops, with a specific emphasis on improving soil fertility, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing the resilience of cropping systems to climate change in Mediterranean environments. The position will actively support the researchers within the IAFES division in identifying the most suitable innovative practices for specific agricultural systems, with particular attention to the unique characteristics and needs of the Arborea Municipality in Sardinia, in the framework of AGRISTAR project (funded by Sottomisura 16.5 del PSR Regione Sardegna 2014/2020). This collaboration will ensure the development of tailored solutions to increase sustainability and resilience of local farming systems, address the unique challenges and leveraging the opportunities presented by the local agricultural context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Scientist will support the IAFES division, in analyzing the local context and farmers’ needs, identifying potential innovative management techniques to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the agricultural systems analyzed in the AGRISTAR project. Interaction with local stakeholders and the dissemination of results through reports and scientific publications are expected.

REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Agricultural Science or equivalent subjects.
- In-depth expertise in cropping systems and a comprehensive understanding of the local specificities of the Arborea agricultural area, supported by prior research or professional experience in the region.
- Availability to travel for limited periods
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
- The period for the CONSULENZA OCCASIONALE will be of 4 months. The gross salary is 20K Euros.
- Flexible working time as per internal policies.
