WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a talented and motivated early career scientist holding a PhD in environmental sciences to conduct high-quality research on climate predictability (annual to decadal timescales) with a focus on the role of ocean–atmosphere interactions in the extratropical North Atlantic. Our unit produces decadal predictions operationally, conducting high-impact research on climate predictability in the framework of related European projects and multi-national collaborations and developing applications and services to support climate adaptation. ROLE
The employee will advance and produce new research on multi-annual to decadal predictability and ocean–atmosphere interactions contributing to different projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD Degree in environmental sciences with relevance to climate.
- Quality publications as fist author (quantity in proportion to post-doctoral experience).
- Experience with the analysis of climate predictions would count as a plus.
- Experience with Python and working with large data sets.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
- The Managers will be based in the Bologna CMCC office.
- The appointment period will be initially of 24 months starting from 2025, Oct./Nov., with a gross annual salary range of 40,000–50,000 Euros depending on post-doctoral experience. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher.
