We are looking for a scientist, specialist on innovative agronomic practices on herbaceous crops, with a specific focus on improving soil fertility, reducing emissions, and enhancing the resilience of cropping systems to climate change in Mediterranean environments, to collaborate with our scientists at Impact on Agriculture, Forests and Ecosystem Services (IAFES) division, based in Sassari.

ROLE
The Scientist in this role will focus on advancing innovative agronomic practices for herbaceous crops, with a specific emphasis on improving soil fertility, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing the resilience of cropping systems to climate change in Mediterranean environments. The position will actively support the researchers within the IAFES division in identifying the most suitable innovative practices in the framework of AGRISTAR project (funded by Sottomisura 16.5 del PSR Regione Sardegna 2014/2020), through an in-depth review of the literature on available sustainable practices at Mediterranean level, analyzing the environmental, social, and economic benefits, and identifying opportunities for potential innovative management techniques. A portfolio of sustainable soil management practices should be produced by the applicant, with a focus on the Arborea agricultural area to address the unique challenges and leveraging the opportunities presented by the local agricultural context.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Scientist will support the IAFES division, in analyzing the available literature on sustainable practices at Mediterranean level, analyzing the environmental, social, and economic benefits, and identifying opportunities for potential innovative management techniques to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the agricultural systems analyzed in the AGRISTAR project.
Interaction with local stakeholders and the dissemination of results through reports and scientific publications are expected.

- PhD in Agricultural Science or equivalent subjects.
- In-depth expertise in herbaceous cropping systems, preferably supported by prior research or professional experience in the Arborea agricultural area.
- Availability to travel for limited periods.

- Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
- The period for the CONSULENZA OCCASIONALE will be of 4 months. The gross salary is 10K Euros.
