The CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment (EIEE) is looking to hire three talented and motivated early-career researchers to join its team in Venice.

ROLE
The selected candidates will develop and apply data-driven methods to assess how infrastructure provision intersects with climate hazards, multidimensional vulnerabilities, and accessibility.
The researchers will be based on a spatial analysis and optimization framework, with applications in urban and regional planning for climate resilience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement geospatial and statistical models to analyze infrastructure and climate-related risks.
- Conduct spatial assessments of vulnerabilities and accessibility in urban environments.
- Process and analyze environmental, infrastructure, and socio-economic datasets.
- Contribute to scientific publications, project deliverables, and stakeholder presentations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within CMCC and partner institutions.
REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for a motivated person with the following requirements:
- Master Degree in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Environmental Science, or similar disciplines.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in geospatial data science.
- Very good knowledge of the English language.
- Accuracy and good analytical skills.
- A background in applied data science (R, Python, Julia, etc.)
- Experience with geospatial data and analysis methods (e.g. geospatial libraries, Google Earth Engine, QGIS, etc.)
- Experience working with environmental, infrastructure, and/or socio-economic data.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- The appointment period will be initially 12-14 months, renewable for one additional year pending a positive evaluation. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher.
- The gross salary will be based on qualifications and working experience and competitive with major research centers in Europe.
- CMCC provides some additional benefits like a welfare package, flexible working time, support during the immigration process, if needed.
PROTECTED CATEGORY
Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
