WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


Our Institute for Institute for Climate Resilience (ICR) is looking for a new position of Policy Analyst, located in Milan, responsible for conducting research, analysing policy frameworks and developing recommendations to inform decision-making processes at local, national and EU level.

ROLE


The Policy Analyst will be expected to contribute to our multifaceted efforts in environmental economics, climate change adaptation and climate governance by researching, analysing policy frameworks and developing recommendations to inform local decision-making, working in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, with a visible impact on policy and society in Europe and beyond. In this role, he/she will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects within the European network, covering various aspects of environmental sustainability and climate resilience.


RESPONSIBILITIES


The Policy Analyst is responsible of:

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis within the EU context.
  • Monitor policy developments, legislative initiatives, and international agreements related to climate change and environmental sustainability, identifying emerging trends and opportunities for intervention.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external partners to design and implement EU-funded projects aimed at advancing climate resilience, promoting sustainable development, and ensuring environmental justice.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policy recommendations, leveraging research findings and stakeholder input to inform evidence-based decision-making.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including organizing workshops, conferences, and policy dialogues to facilitate knowledge exchange and promote collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations to communicate research findings, policy analyses, and recommendations to policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders.


REQUIREMENTS

 
  • Ph.D. or a minimum of 5 years of research experience post-undergraduate degree, enabling access to doctoral studies, in the field of economics, statistic, political science, public policies, end environmental studies.
  • Strong interest in and knowledge of environmental economics, climate change adaptation, and climate governance issues, with a demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainability and resilience.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with proficiency in qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Familiarity with EU policies, institutions, and decision-making processes related to environmental sustainability and climate change, including experience working on EU-funded projects.
  • Commitment, motivation and proactivity in pursuing projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to identify and focus on the essential elements of issues and processes so as to achieve established goals effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to changing plans and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English (Italian not needed), good presentation and writing skills.

DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

 
  • Based on the duration of the employment contract, without prejudice to any changes in organisation and/or career paths and downstream of the performance appraisal.
  • The appointment is assigned following:
  1. internal selection;
  2. external selection in the event that there are no internal candidates, or they are assessed as unsuitable.
  • The appointment period will be initially of 12 months starting from May 2024, with the possibility of contract extension based on performance, results achieved and new project opportunities.
  • The gross annual salary range is from 28 to 33K Euros, based on the qualification and working experience of the candidate.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
