The ideal candidate will contribute to integrating climate risk considerations into engineering design, supporting both applied research and institutional activities with expert groups such as the Joint Research Centre (JRC). ROLE

The Researcher will be part of the Adaptation Engineering unit of the REMHI Division and will support the design, development, and application of methodologies to integrate climate change considerations into civil engineering practices. The role includes supporting the development of guidelines and technical standards, contributing to institutional and collaborative R&I projects.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The Researcher will support the REMHI Division, with:
  • Integrate climate risk and adaptation strategies into the design of civil infrastructure
  • Support technical collaborations and expert consultations with institutions (e.g., JRC, EU bodies
  • Contribute to the development and application of modelling chains combining physical-based and data-driven approaches
  • Contribute to the drafting of technical documents, standards, and policy-relevant outputs.
  • Participate in EU and international projects focused on climate-resilient infrastructure.
 


REQUIREMENTS

 
  • PhD in Civil Engineering or equivalent subjects.
  • Master Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent subjects.
  • Proven experience or strong interest in climate adaptation, infrastructure risk assessment, or resilient design.
  • Knowledge of engineering design codes and climate adaptation frameworks (Eurocodes, guidelines, or similar).
  • Familiarity with simulation tools, and interest in coupling with climate data.
  • Proficiency in English; excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Accuracy and good analytical skills.
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset; ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Team attitude and capacity to work in interdisciplinary contexts.

 
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
  • The Researcher will be based in Caserta CMCC office.
  • Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience
  • Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies.
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed.
