The CMCC Foundation is a scientific research center on climate change and its interactions with the environment, society, the world of business, and policymakers.

Our work aims to stimulate sustainable growth, protect the environment and develop strategies for adapting and mitigating climate change.

Our Division of Impacts on Agriculture, Forests and Ecosystem Services (IAFES) is looking for a new position of Post-doc researcher, responsible for supporting analyses on land degradation - due to agro-ecological drought, erosion and other surface processes, with a special attention to marginal areas - based on Earth Observation combined with modelling, exploiting innovative methods and tools. The activities will also include collaboration on writing of peer-reviewed publications as well as communication of findings through reporting and/or participation in conferences.

The position has been opened within the project “CN_00000022 National Research Centre for Agricultural Technologies (Agritech)”, CUP C83C22000500007.

The job location is CMCC office in Viterbo/Lecce (Italy), with possibility to agree on remote working.

We are looking for a motivated person with the following requirements:

PhD degree or equivalent experience in Natural, Forestry, Agricultural, Geological or Hydrological Sciences;
Knowledge of (geo)statistics and of geospatial/remote sensing data processing software and tools, including GIS;
Experience on the elaboration of EO data and derived products for studying processes related to status and changes in land cover, vegetation, soil and water properties;
Skills on information technology-based tools and common programming languages (e.g. R, Python) to deal with huge amount of data;
An excellent knowledge of Italian language and very good knowledge of English language;
Good communication skills and teamworking attitude.

The project promotes female and youth employment and the reduction of territorial gaps according to art. 47 “promotion of generational and gender equal opportunities for the awarding of public contracts for the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR)”, of the Italian Law Decree no. 77/2021 converted into law no. 108 of 29 July 2021.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.

Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).

We offer the opportunity to join our team through a temporary contract of n°18 months starting from July 2023, with the possibility of contract extension or change/integration based on performance, results achieved, and new project opportunities.

Annual salary is ranging from 28 to 32 kEuros, depending on qualification and experience.
