WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a highly qualified Research Coordinator to provide direct support to the scientific and strategic activities of the Institute for Earth System Predictions (IESP). The role integrates multiple responsibilities, including the coordination of working groups, support of communication and outreach activities and enhancement of internal and external collaborations within the other Institutes (ICR/EIEE), the CMCC Strategic Programs and the international research centers in general. The selected candidate will play a key role in assisting the Director in strengthening IESP’s scientific mission, increasing research impact, and supporting strategic planning processes.

ROLE
The Research Coordinator will report to the IESP Director and will be responsible for providing strategic support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Coordinator will support the IESP Director in a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- assisting the Director in defining and implementing the Institute’s research strategy through the drafting of strategic documents, research plans and institutional reports;
- facilitating communication and collaboration between internal researchers and/or external partner institutions;
- coordinating interdisciplinary working groups in the preparation of competitive research proposals, ensuring alignment with funding calls, internal timelines, and quality standards;
- supporting the Institute’s communication strategy by managing webinars, seminars, workshops, and other scientific and outreach events;
- preparing communication materials (reports, newsletters…) to promote IESP research outputs and scientific activities;
- contributing to the continuous improvement of the Institute’s research plan.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Climatology, Geosciences, Biogeochemistry or equivalent subjects.
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the climate research field.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language.
- Accuracy and good analytical skills.
- Knowledge of European, international and national funding programs.
- Ability to coordinate and manage personnel effectively.
- Proven capability to plan, organize, and supervise research activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
- The Research coordinator will be based in Bologna CMCC office.
- Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience.
- Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
- Flexible working time as per internal policies.

- The position is available for an immediate start.
