We're looking for a Climate Finance Policy Specialist to join our team in Milano, Italy.
In the framework of the activities of the recently launched CMCC Advanced Training and Education Center, located in Milan, the successful candidate will support the CMCC team in leading the capacity building activities in the framework of the CLIMATEFIT project.
CLIMATEFIT aims at supporting innovative financing mechanisms for adaptation to climate change by providing key insight into financing sources and strategies. This project unites public and private sectors in a transformative quest for climate resilience unites public and private sectors in a transformative quest for climate resilience. We're amplifying EU territories' adaptation capacities, unveiling resilient investment avenues, and co-creating innovative strategies, while spotlighting 20 pivotal case studies across three key regions.
For this position, we welcome applications from experts with a solid knowledge and interest in climate finance policies. The candidate will join an international and interdisciplinary team and work on exploring, understanding and reporting on the global climate resilience and green growth financing landscape, as well as on accelerating the mobilization of financing & investment entities to help bridge the adaptation finance gap.

ROLE
The Climate Finance Policy Specialist reports to the Advanced Training and Education Centre (ATEC) Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Specifically, the successful candidate will (but not only):
  • Lead cutting-edge research and innovation on climate adaptation, including production/contribution of scientific articles and science-policy reports and their dissemination at scientific workshops and conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of an innovative methodology for prioritizing funding sources and investment opportunities for climate resilience within adaptation strategies and projects.
  • Collaborate with public authorities and financial institutions to accelerate climate finance.
  • Develop and implement investment strategies and plans for climate adaptation.
  • Manage operational aspects and support capacity-building programmes, including the design of training material on climate resilience funding and investment concepts.
  • Support the organization of international workshops and events targeting public administration and financial entities at EU and international level.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Master in Environmental Economics, climate, sustainability, finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in European and international research projects focusing on climate finance.
  • Knowledge and experience in environmental and ecological economics, sustainable business innovation, climate insurance, climate adaptation planning and finance strategies, green finance and related topics.
  • Fluency in English in both writing and speaking; proficiency in any additional language is an asset.
  • Experience in conducting capacity building activities and stakeholder engagement at international and European level
  • Willingness to travel to project meetings and conferences;
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and diverse environment committed to high-quality research.
  • Quantitative Skills and programming are a plus.
  • Working experience with international financing institutions.
  • Strong problem-solving attitude.
  • Attention to detail and good time management skills.


DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
 
  • Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
  • The Specialist will be based in Milan CMCC office.
  • Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience
  • Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies.
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed.
