ROLE

The Researcher will be part of the Adaptation Engineering unit of the REMHI Division and will support in advancing knowledge and tools to analyze the vulnerability and adaptation of transport infrastructure to both extreme and slow-onset climate events. This includes developing models and decision-support frameworks to assess resilience and adaptation measures across scales.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The Researcher will support the REMHI Division, with:
  • Assess the impact of climate change on road, rail, and bridge infrastructure.
  • Support the development of methodologies for vulnerability and resilience assessment.
  • Contribute to the design of adaptation strategies and resilient infrastructure solutions.
  • Collaborate in the development of applied modelling tools (physical or data-driven).
  • Support participation in EU/international projects, proposal writing, and reporting.


REQUIREMENTS
 

  • PhD in Civil, Transportation, or Environmental Engineering or equivalent subjects.
  • Master Degree in Civil, Transportation, or Environmental Engineering  or equivalent subjects.
  • Experience in transport infrastructure design, management, or assessment.
  • Familiarity with climate risk data, modelling tools (e.g., transport network analysis, GIS, others), or asset management.
  • Interest in multi-hazard or compound risk analysis is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English; excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Accuracy and good analytical skills.
  • Proactive and collaborative mindset; ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Team attitude and capacity to work in interdisciplinary contexts.

 
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
  • The Managers will be based in Caserta CMCC office.
  • Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience.
  • Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies.
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed.
