WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking up to three highly motivated and well-organized early-career postdoctoral researchers or mid-level researchers to work as Eddy Covariance and Ecosystem Data Curators. Candidates should have proven experience in the management of large environmental datasets, particularly in the organization, quality control, processing, formatting, and documentation of eddy covariance time series, including the full set of associated meteorological, ancillary, and metadata records. Programming skills in at least one of the following languages are required: Python, R, or MATLAB.
The activities will be carried out within the Ecosystem Thematic Centre (ETC) of the ICOS Research Infrastructure and the global FLUXNET initiative. The selected candidates will join a team dedicated to the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of data and metadata collection, processing, curation, and dissemination workflows.

ROLE
The Eddy Covariance Data Curators will report to the ICOS ETC Director and Coordination Group and will be responsible for the collection, organization, quality control, processing, curation, and preparation of eddy covariance datasets and their associated metadata. This will include the development and implementation of new tools and workflows to enhance data management and curation procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Eddy Covariance Data Curators will support the ICOS ETC and Processing Centre in the following activities:
- Data collection and support for data submission
- Data checking and quality control, including interaction with data providers
- Collection, organization, and quality control of metadata and ancillary data
- Data processing and analysis of results
- Revision of existing metadata and ancillary data schemes, and development of new ones
- Development, testing, and deployment of new data quality assessment tools.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD or Master's degree in a scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in environmental data management.
- Familiarity with eddy covariance data.
- Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Basic knowledge of Italian, sufficient for everyday communication and discussions.
- Proficiency in scientific programming and data handling, including experience with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, R, or MATLAB.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Please note that this vacancy will be advertised both internally and externally.
- The selected candidates will be based at the CMCC office in Viterbo, located at the University of Tuscia.
- The position is offered under a Coordinated and Continuous Collaboration Contract (Co.co.co.), starting on September 1st, for a duration of 12 months.
- The gross annual compensation for this position ranges from €30,000 to €50,000. The salary offered will be determined based on relevant experience, seniority, and specific technical skills, according to objective and gender-neutral criteria.
- Welfare benefits amounting to €2,000 per year.
- Flexible working hours, in accordance with internal policies.
- Support with immigration procedures, if required.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
