The selected candidates may also assist with the general administrative management of a highly dynamic and proactive research division.

ROLE
The Scientific Project Manager will play a pivotal role in the daily coordination and implementation of ongoing research initiatives, with a primary focus on EU-funded projects. She/he will also support the general management of the research division.
This multifaceted position involves overseeing project reporting, tracking milestones, and ensuring the seamless follow-up of all deliverables. Beyond administrative monitoring, the role encompasses proactive risk and data management, alongside rigorous quality assurance to uphold the highest standards of research excellence.
A significant portion of the role is dedicated to fostering effective communication between internal teams and external partners, acting as a bridge to ensure collaborative success. This includes contributing to outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives, such as the organization and facilitation of workshops, high-level meetings, and strategic dissemination activities.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will provide essential expertise in financial oversight, assisting with budgeting and control to ensure fiscal compliance. Looking toward future growth, the Project Manager will also contribute to the strategic expansion of our research portfolio by identifying potential partners, structuring international consortia, and co-authoring innovative research proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The scientific project manager will support the IAFES Division,
with:
- contribution to improving research management processes;
- Management of national and international research projects;
- Draft of project reports;
- Interaction with project teams during the proposal preparation and project development;
- Overseen of budget planning and the preparation of financial reports;
- Development of long-term research strategies;
- Dissemination of research findings
REQUIREMENTS
- Educational Background: Degree in Economics, Management, International Relations, Political Science, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage, either in a disciplinary subject (e.g., climate resilience, sustainable development, ecology of terrestrial ecosystems, agricultural sciences) or in management.
- Professional Experience: Proven experience in project management within research, innovation, policy, or comparable sectors. Candidates at various stages of their career are welcome, with seniority assessed based on individual profiles.
- Key Assets: Experience in coordinating partners from diverse institutions and countries, along with a track record in proposal writing and consortium building, will be highly valued.
- Language & Technical Skills: Full professional proficiency in Italian and English, with excellent command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a demonstrated talent for interacting with partners in a professional, respectful, and constructive manner.
- Soft Skills: Strong team-working attitude combined with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Analytical Mindset: Robust organizational and critical thinking skills.
- Motivation: High drive to learn and thrive in a dynamic and evolving research environment.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Application Scope: this opportunity will be advertised both internally and externally.
- Location: the Scientific Project Manager can be based at the Sassari or Viterbo CMCC office. Regular in-person presence (to be agreed upon) will be important to support effective coordination and collaboration with the team.
- Appointment Period: the initial appointment will be 18 months (renewable), starting from June/July 2026.
- Contract and Compensation: contract type, working time arrangement, and gross annual salary will be defined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.
- Benefits: a welfare package is provided for contracts with a minimum duration of 12 months.
- Immigration Support: assistance will be provided during the immigration process, if required.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
