We are looking for a highly motivated and well-organized Researcher in Climate Adaptation and Resilience Analysis with a solid background in environmental studies, climate science and socio-economic analysis, and a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate has experience in the evaluation of adaptation strategies and solutions, in designing and applying economic evaluation methodologies and tools to assess the feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and co-benefits of adaptation interventions, particularly in the context of the built environment. Experience in the monitoring and evaluation of Nature-based Solutions is considered an asset. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a proactive attitude in engaging with researchers, administrative staff, and external stakeholders are highly valued.

ROLE
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Researcher will support the REMHI team with:
- Economic assessment of adaptation and resilience strategies and solutions for the built environment, including cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, and multi-criteria analyses;
- Development and application of methodologies to assess the direct and indirect benefits of adaptation solutions—including soft, green, blue, and grey measures—with particular attention to Nature-based Solutions (NbS). This includes the evaluation of co-benefits such as improved public health, energy savings, climate risk reduction, enhanced ecosystem services, and social inclusion;
- Collection and processing of socio-economic and environmental data at urban and regional scales;
- Collaboration in research and innovation projects, including writing and managing EU projects and tenders’ proposals;
- Contribution to scientific publications, technical reports, policy briefs, and dissemination activities;
- Participation in internal knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration;
- Stay up to date with the latest multi-risk and resilience-related research, tools, and techniques, and apply cutting-edge methodologies to climate risk problems.
REQUIREMENTS
- PhD or MSc degree in Economics, Environmental Economics, Climate Change Science and Management, or equivalent subjects.
- Proven experience in economic assessment of climate adaptation, resilience or environmental policies.
- Proficiency or familiarity with a range of tools and methodologies for economic and spatial analysis, modelling, and communication of results. These include:
- Economic analysis and modelling
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel for scenario and sensitivity analysis; experience with R and/or Python for data analysis and modelling; familiarity with software like Stata, GAMS, or Matlab is a plus; some experience with probabilistic modelling tools for for evaluating uncertainty in economic outcomes.
- Evaluation methods
Application of economic techniques such as Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA), Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA), Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA), and ecosystem services valuation, including monetization and non-monetary approaches. - Spatial data analysis
Use of GIS software (preferably QGIS, but also ArcGIS) to integrate spatial risk data with socio-economic indicators and to evaluate the territorial distribution of costs and benefits from adaptation interventions. - Decision-support tools
Experience with spreadsheet-based or coded frameworks for multi-criteria decision-making, including methods like Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP); knowledge of relevant R/Python packages is beneficial. - Data visualization and reporting
Ability to produce clear, interactive, and policy-relevant outputs using appropriate data visualization and reporting tools; basic familiarity with LaTeX is a plus for scientific documentation.

- Excellent knowledge of the English language.
- Good communication skills and a teamworking attitude.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experienc
- Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
